ABOUT THE NORTHWESTERN TIGER PRIDE
The Northwestern High School Band has a long tradition of performance excellence, dating back to the consolidation into Northwestern High School in 1948. Originally known as the "Purple Pride Show Band," the TIGER PRIDE now competes throughout the Indiana State School Music Association circuits at Concert Band, Marching Band, and Jazz Band events. The Northwestern Band and Guard is Northwestern High School and Northwestern Middle School's largest student activity.

The TIGER PRIDE is a ten-time ISSMA Marching Band State Finalist - most recently finishing 3rd place in 2025 - and has won many other awards and recognitions as a result of their performances. The TIGER PRIDE has performed multiple times in Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom, most recently in Spring 2025. In 2017 and again in 2023 and 2026, the TIGER PRIDE was selected to represent ISSMA in the Indianapolis 500 Festival Parade, the 3rd most-viewed parade in the United States.
Each year since 2016, the Northwestern Band has earned ISSMA's prestigious All-Music Award. Northwestern was the smallest and one of only 22 Indiana high schools to receive the All-Music Award for the Total Music Department in 2025.
In 2017, the Northwestern Winterguard finished their season as State Runners-Up in their competitive division in IHSCGA. In 2018, the Winterguard moved up a competitive class and finished 9th in IHSCGA State Finals. In 2025, the Winterguard finished 11th place in IHSCGA State Finals.
